Music is an important source and medium for specific cultural values that decide the nation's identity. In the case of Poland its music has played that role successfully down the centuries. Yet today, in order to let her play that role, music must be cultivated i.e., performed, edited and recorded. That is exactly the purpose of the Pro Musica Camerata (established in 1992). Among its founding members are: BIG Bank Gdański SA, CIECH S.A., Elektrim SA, Kredyt Bank SA, the Warsaw Chamber Opera, the Warsaw Province Governor, and Messrs. Bogusław Kot, Stanisław Pacuk, and Stefan Sutkowski. The Foundation Board includes the above mentioned institutions.
The Foundation draws on the experience of the Warsaw Chamber Opera and its Early Polish Music Research and Documentation Centre.
Its principal aim is to provide all-round support to the Warsaw Chamber Opera, notably in staging its unique events such as the Mozart Festival, the Festival of Early Polish Music and the Baroque Opera Festival.
While the first two events are already well-established on the music circuit, the Baroque Opera Festival is a relatively new initiative (launched in 1993) and therefore requires strong support from our patrons and sponsors.
The Foundation's publishing unit - the Pro Musica Camerata Edition - has embarked on a publishing plan comprising critical editions of Polish music manuscripts from the Middle Ages to the late 19th century and the facsimile editions of works by Polish composers, including Chopin's entire output. The Foundation's Library offers a wide range of stage and concert music for hire.
Another division of the Foundation - the Pro Musica Camerata Production - produces CDs of the masterpieces of early Polish music. All these undertakings are intended to build a lasting monument to the composers who created Poland's musical history down the centuries. In this sense, the Foundation's activity is of utmost importance for national and international musical culture, now and in the future.
The Pro Musica Camerata Foundation is eager to establish contact with institutions, business companies and private persons willing to assist the Warsaw Chamber Opera and the Foundation. We would appreciate any contribution but we shall be particularly grateful to those sponsors who are ready to help us on a regular basis. The names of our sponsors are widely publicised in the press, on radio end TV as well as in all our leaflets, calendars, posters, programme books, music publications, cassettes, and CDs. Such publicity creates a favourable image of our sponsors in the eyes of opinion-making circles that are among the friends and fans of the Warsaw Chamber Opera.
